Celebrating Our 40th Season!
A play by John Logan, the 2010 Tony Award winner for Best Play.
Directed by Rick Orr
April 12 - 28
Featuring Gary Ambler and Jesse Angelo.
The play finds celebrated artist Mark Rothko in his New York studio in 1958-9, painting a group of murals for the expensive and exclusive Four Seasons restaurant. As Mark mixes the paints, and paints the canvases, he barks out commands to his new assistant, Ken, teaching him about art and creation. Ken, however, brashly questions Rothko's theories of art and his commitment to artistic integrity. A beautifully written, powerful play about the nature of art... and the artist.
The Associated Press calls it an "engrossing, often enthralling new play about art, an artist and the act of creation."
